Just what I need another Willys Jeep forum LOL.

I'm about a month away from being back on the road since Sept 1976 and after what has amounted to 10 years of work. My Jeeps name is CHUG A LUG named after the Roger Miller song of the same name that was a big hit back in 1965 when dad named the jeep. First time I sat in CHUG I was 5 that was in 1962. Dad had just bought it from some abusive farmer and was returning CHUG back to the road. He then drove it to work every day until 1970 when he bought a new J3000 Gladiator. Chug then went back to just being the family fun rig until 1974 when I started driving it to work during the summer. Then in 75 and 76 it was my rig during high school. Last driven on the road Sept 19th 1976 about 3 days before I left for college. Shortly there after my dad thought it had a broken valve spring and my then idiot little brother took the head off to fix it. The results were that CHUG had to sit in the dark in my dads shed for 28 years until right before my dad passed away he sold Chug to me for $2 (so no one could throw a fit when it came time to read the will as then the jeep was already in my name) and then in 2004 when dads evil second wife decided to cash out the house she told me I had to come get it that was 2004 I worked on CHUG for a couple years until other things drew my attention away and the project slowed way down until 2013 when I took it back up and have been at it pretty steady ever since.

Chug was when dad got it an unrestoreable collection of parts.

48 CJ-2A tub and front end
56-57 CJ5 frame and suspension
48 Axles
the engine (which might have been put in by my dad....hey I was like 5-6 at the time) is a 58-59 DJ-3A engine
So as you can see there was not a CJ-2A to restore but a collection of parts assembled into a flat fender.

The list of mods I have done to CHUG would take 20 pages to list. so I will just cover the majors

Completely rebuilt and upgraded tub
Rebuilt and Hot Rodded the engine now 140cu in at 7.2-1 compression spin balanced
Saginaw steering
Wagoneer 11" Bendix brakes
Rear axle is a Dana 44 30 spline flanged with all new internals including an Eaton E Locker
Frame and suspension have been modified
12V
All SW gauges
OBA
etc.

I am about 45min south of Portland so like 6+ hours from Nevada maybe more.

I wonder why no one ever put a 283 or 327 from any of the other 10 Chevy models in jeeps they always seam to be from corvettes even though corvettes are the least produced model of any year that used 283's or 327's lol
